Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Bookkeeper who will be responsible for performing all payroll, invoicing, collections and accounting functions at a Hampton’s restaurant and bar. The bookkeeper position is full-time and preferably on-site in Hamptons 2-3 days a week during May - October, with the flexibility to be fully remote. During winter, the Bookkeeper must be able to travel 5 days per month to other locations. The Bookkeeper should have familiarity with hospitality business needs, deep experience with standard accounting systems and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
  • Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner
  • Assist in preparing and submitting tax reports (e.g., sales tax, occupancy tax)
  • Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
  • Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
  • Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data
  • Interpret and apply accounting policies, rules, and regulations to all work in order to ensure compliance with applicable standards
  • Work with accountants to prepare financial statements and filings 
  • Conduct reconciliation of all accounts on an as needed basis
  • Implement and execute process checks
  • Maintain confidentiality of financial data and ensure ethical handling of all accounting functions
  • Collaborate with management and staff to ensure smooth financial operations, offering proactive suggestions for process improvements
  • Ensure policies are followed and appropriate authorizations are obtained for all Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 5+ years relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping with hospitalities businesses 
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of GAAP
  • Proficient skills in QuickBooks, Bill.com and Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and general ledger
  • Experience with hospitality systems [Resy, Toast, Payroll, Budget Mgmt Tools]
  • Direct and friendly communicator 
  • Strong financial acumen and experience 
  • Able to travel to onsite locations 
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a fluctuating workload, with flexibility to adjust to seasonal demands
