Automation Test Engineer

Automation Test Engineer who is interested in the opportunity to be on the forefront of driving a major transformation within Capital One.
As an Automation Engineer focusing on our debit card platform you’ll be joining a passionate team of product managers, designers, engineers, data scientists, testing specialists, and analysts working to redefine how millions of customers interact with their money. You’ll work to develop the next generation of streaming data. You’ll empower the entire business by supporting and advancing our debit card platform. Most importantly you’ll deliver critical intents for a platform used by virtually all of our bank customers.
What You’ll Do: - Review changes and project proposals to understand the impact on the customer experience, backend data structures. This can include industry changes (biannual), innovation opportunities, new customer requests, and technical changes.
- Test features across teams within Capital One, external vendors, and other industry partners.
- Identify, generate, and execute test cases leveraging custom QA software.
- Develop testing plans/scenarios/cases to address areas such as database impacts, software scenarios ,regression testing, boundary/negative testing, error or defect retests, usability; including automated scripts.
- Maintain the testing environment and collaborate with technology teams in assessing downstream and upstream data issues.
- Ensure stability and efficiency of the debit platform and dependent systems.
- Consult with technical, business, and product partners on feasibility and technical approach for potential new features or other modifications to the debit platform.
- Respond to production incidents, and help identify the root cause in order to direct our team and partners to a solution. This requires on the spot critical thinking and problem solving to help millions of customers continue to use their debit cards.
- Identify new opportunities for Capital One to enhance our debit card platform (e.g., data structure and processing changes that directly impact the profitability of our business)
- Lead work streams to respond to industry wide regulatory changes across legal, compliance, risk, tech, product, fraud, and other Capital One partners.
- Collaborate with internal partners. You will rally your Capital One partners to deliver your vision while participating in relevant governance and risk forums and building strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Interact with the product delivery team; participate in product requirement/design reviews to provide input on completeness of functional requirements, product designs, and schedules.
- Identify interdependencies, ambiguities or omissions, and make suggestions to improve requirements and ensure usability/testability.
- Review software documentation to ensure technical accuracy, compliance, or completeness, with focus to mitigate risks.
- Learn from your network of developers, designers, analysts, data scientists, customers and other subject-matter experts and leverage them to build cutting-edge products.
Basic Qualifications: - Bachelor’s Degree
- At least 2 years of experience in test automation using Selenium (internship experience not included)
- At least 1 year of experience working with cross-functional teams to deliver consumer experiences
- At least 1 year of experience working on core product platforms that power digital experiences
Preferred Qualifications: - 3+ years of experience in functional end-to-end testing
- 3+ years of experience in automated regression testing
- 2+ years of experience in Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) methodology
- 2+ years of experience with Rest Assured, Ready API, and Postman
- 2+ years experience with AWS
- 2+ years experience with Agile
- 1+ years translating business strategy or analysis into consumer facing digital products
- 1+ years working with cross functional teams as a product owner in an agile development process
At this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.
New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $99,500 - $113,600 for Automation Test Engineer
Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.
This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
