Responsibilities: A nonexempt position responsible for performing a variety of duties within the Behavioral Health Department of the medical practice. Involved in either or both clinical and administrative areas including assisting Psychiatrists, Psychologists, and Licensed Clinical Therapists and Social Workers with patient care and handling clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinical service.
Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide clinical and clerical support to Behavioral Health Providers and Tandem Care Clinicians.
- Receive scheduled patients, obtain vital signs, prep chart for provider, collect and prepare specimens for the laboratory as appropriate, assist provider with procedures, order entry and medical records management.
- Assist in scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling of appointments to include new and established therapy appointments, established psychiatry appointments, Neurotrax scheduling and administration, Tandem Care, and Group therapy appointments.
- Provide timely triage and assessment for all routine behavioral health referrals to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Schedule Psychometric Packet appointment for electronic delivery of the Tandem Care Packet to ensure timely access to behavioral health services.
- Contact patients to ensure their understanding of the disposition /treatment plan.
- Provide triage and safety assessment for all urgent phone calls and urgent referrals.
- Provide feedback to the identified primary care physician and primary care team, regarding all plans outcomes dispositions on any identified or shared patients.
- Remain in continuous daily contact and communication with Behavioral Health Manager regarding all new and ongoing clinical issues.
- Directly communicate with all Behavioral Health community resources, manage referrals and referral network, mange literature from community resources printed and electronic to assess the best option of care for the patient.
- Maintenance and disposition of all routine patient phone calls, portal inquiries, etc.
- Manage all email and Electronic Medical Record communication regarding Behavioral Health Team clinical/Clerical issues.
- Assist in on boarding new Behavioral Health Clinical personnel.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining Behavioral Health systems, directives, processes, and workflows.
- Assist in analysis of statistical data gathered.
- Participate in all staff meetings and behavioral health sponsored events and trainings.
- Participate in activities pertaining to professional growth and areas of advancement as described in career ladder.
- Maintain department supply/order list.
- Other duties as assigned from the Behavioral Heath Supervisor, Behavioral Health Manager, or Behavioral Health Medical Director.
Education/Experience Requirements: - High school diploma or general equivalency diploma (GED).
- Graduation from an approved practical nursing program preferred.
- Certified/Registered Medical Assistant preferred.
- LPN license or CMA/RMA certificate must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
- Must possess and/or obtain current health records with the appropriate immunizations to work in the health care field (hepatitis B and tuberculosis).
- 1-2 years working in an office setting, medical office setting preferred.
- 1-2 years working in a Behavioral Health setting preferred.
- Knowledge of health care field and medical office protocols/procedures.
- Knowledge of specific assisting tasks related to particular medical practice.
- Knowledge of information that must be conveyed to patients and families.
- Knowledge of customer service protocols.
- Skill in performing medical assistance tasks appropriately.
- Skill in diplomacy and interpersonal interactions/customer service.
- Skill in understanding patient education needs by effectively sharing information with patients and families.
- Ability to communicate calmly and clearly with patients.
- Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
- Ability to project a pleasant and professional image.
- Ability to plan, prioritize and complete delegated tasks.
- Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others.
- Ability to work with computer and effectively use electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ability to work under pressure.
