I. JOB SUMMARY: Campus Educator: Responsible for oversight of Campus in service education ranging from mandatory programs to elective offerings. The educator is responsible for coordinating the mandatory offerings, outlining content of same, and creating learning experiences for the adult learners on campus, professional and para professional
Employee Health Nurse: Performance of pre-employment health assessments, annual health assessments and immunization initiatives. The employee health nurse is a wellness advocate and performs a wide variety of supplemental activities which support the employee experience on campus.
II. PRIMARY JOB DUTIES: Campus Educator: - Develops and coordinates all mandatory in-service training programs for staff in multiple formats and methods of delivery
- Works with outside sources to coordinate in service education programs from outside vendors
- Coordinates CPR and First Aid training sessions for staff that require said training.
- Develops, maintains, and teaches specialty training programs for such topics as: medication assistance training, specialty dementia training, preceptor preparation classes, IV therapy training, etc.
- Tracks in service education attendance for employees
- Works routinely with program managers to assess educational needs and coordinates programs to meet those needs.
- Serves as an education resource for any other campus staff charged with duties involving education of staff
- Supports regulatory reviews for tracking/reporting of education
Employee Health: - Performs pre-employment health assessments
- Performs annual employee/volunteer health assessments (hosting of clinics)
- Administers immunizations as required by regulation
- Maintains employee health records
- Tracks compliance with HR policy on employee health
- Supports regulatory review for tracking/reporting of employee health compliance
III. OTHER JOB DUTIES: - Performs Medical Necessity Review for Greenwood Residences
- Serves as an Alzheimer’s Association “Train the Trainer” for difficult behaviors
- Provides programs for the elders residing in various programs/facilities
- Develops policies and procedures, SOP’s, and programs as required
- Serves on Compliance Committee, Chair of Education Committee, and Chair of Wellness Committee
- Represents the Campus in outside presentations and speaking engagements
- Other duties as assigned my manager
IV. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES: - Must adapt to fast paced environment requiring multi-tasking
- Working knowledge of occupational medicine principles and employee physical assessment
- Must have a working understanding of various types of adult learners
- Must be able to be innovative in creating educational opportunities for a large workforce using many modalities
- Experience with long term care regulations and practices
- Experienced in research and program development
- Able to communicate and interact positively with a variety of individuals on a regular basis
- Able to read, understand, and interpret a variety of correspondence, written materials, data, policies, procedures, and regulations
- Able to concentrate on detailed and complicated matters on a frequent basis with occasional interruptions; attention to detail is critical
V. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Education :
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- BS/BA in nursing or related field
License/Certification :
- Current NYS License as Registered Professional Nurse
- CPR and/or ACLS certification
Experience :
- 3-5 years’ experience in Occupational Medicine is beneficial
- 3-5 years’ experience in adult education is beneficial
VI. PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS: - Able to maneuver throughout the Campus routinely on foot and by vehicle
- Able to lift/carry 50 pounds
- Able to sit, stand, bend, stoop, walk without restriction for time or repetition
- Able to vary work schedule
- Office environment approximately 70% of the time; clinical settings 30%
- Able to open, close, utilize file cabinets, archive boxes, and storage cupboards
- Able to use desktop or laptop computer daily for unlimited times
- Able to work in a fast paced (frequent) and high stress (occasional) work environment with many demands
