Shermco is looking for a talented graduating student to join our team as a Electrical Engineer. At Shermco we hire individuals who value safety in their work, operate with integrity, prioritize our client's needs, excel operating within a team and bring ingenuity in all they do.
Role and Responsibilities - Work under a Professional Engineer (PE) on an amazing team performing electrical engineering studies. We are looking for new graduates that are willing to be hands on with our engineering and field service group.
- Provide engineering related design, analysis, and studies for domestic and international projects.
- Perform power factor analysis and correction, harmonic modeling and analysis, and grounding analysis.
- Conduct short-circuits, protective device coordination and arc-flash studies.
- Interact with customers to gather critical information and review engineering plans.
- Design and troubleshoot protective relaying and controls.
- Occasionally work with our Field Services team on shut-down, startup, installation, and maintenance projects.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong Computer Skills; Microsoft Suite
- Preferred educational focus in Power Systems Studies
Nice to Have Skills - Exposure to protective relay projects, short-circuit, protective device coordination, arc-flash and power quality studies
- Experience using SKM, ETAP, ASPEN, EasyPower, or other power system modeling software
- Utility design experience
Requirements - Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays, and nights
- Does not require sponsorship to work in the U.S. now or in the future
- Must be willing to travel; minimum 40%
- All employees who accept an offer undergo and must pass a pre-employment background check and drug test to be hired
- This position does require driving and we ask that the individual hold a valid U.S. driver's license in good standing
- This position also requires someone who is physically fit to crawl, climb, stand, walk, and lift up to 75 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently
