Housing Facilities Maintenance**

locations, multiple storage facilities, miles of sidewalk, a quad and so much more to care for. University Housing Facilities include maintenance, facility planning, engineering, interior design and building service.

Job Summary

Performs work involved in the repair and maintenance of furniture

primarily focused on the reupholstery of furniture. All University Housing staff will engage and contribute to a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion within University Housing.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Makes upholstery repairs to damaged furniture.
• Collaborate with Housing\'s Interior designer in the matching of

colors to properly repair or restore furniture.

• Installs, arranges, and secures springs, padding, and covering

material to frames of chairs, seats, or other fixtures.

• Performs hand and machine work needed to make, cut, shape, assemble,

and finish parts as required for the repair or renovation of furniture.

• Operates woodworking machines needed to cut and shape such parts

from stock materials.

• Operates University vehicles to travel to campus and off campus

locations as the work dictates.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years (48 months) of work experience in the repair and/or

upholstering of furniture using hand and wood machine tools and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

2 years of experience specifically in the upholstering of furniture.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Skill in the use of tools and equipment.
• Ability to carry out all phases of furniture repair and

re-upholstering.

• Ability to find efficient and innovative ways to solve problems and

achieve goals.

Appointment Information

This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 3190 - Furniture Restorer

position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search.

This is a bargained position and as such, the salary is driven by the

collective bargaining agreement. The wage for this position is \$40.10 per hour.
