Job Description and Duties

This is a 12-month limited-term position that may be extended to 24 months with the possibility of becoming permanent.

To be eligible for consideration, you must meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

1)    Taken and passed the examination for this classification and be on a current certified list;

2)    Eligible to transfer;

3)    Eligible to reinstate.

Working Conditions

• This position is eligible for a hybrid telework option, in accordance with CAL FIRE’s telework policy, and will be required to report to the office as needed/required. The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
  

• Overnight travel throughout the State may be required and could be up to 5% of the time. When approved, occasional overtime may be required and may include working at times determined by emergency incidents.

Special Requirements

2. Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to interview and/or appointment. If you are meeting Minimum Qualifications with education, you must include your unofficial transcripts/diploma for verification. Official transcripts may be required upon appointment. If it is determined a candidate does not meet the Minimum Qualifications, the candidate will be withheld from the eligibility list, rendering them inactive and ineligible to be hired for the position. Candidates who have been withheld may file an appeal with the State Personnel Board.

Desirable Qualifications

In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

• Excellent ability to work in an environment with shifting priorities

• Experience with providing exceptional customer service

• Experience with Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI) software

• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher)

• Excellent cartographic skills

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field

The Supplemental Questionnaire serves as documentation of each candidate’s ability to  present information clearly and concisely in writing and helps to provide more detailed  information about work experiences pertinent for this position.

Please address the following and limit each response to no more than 250 words.

1. Describe your most recent project using ArcGIS Pro or ArcGIS Online. If you have only used a different GIS platform, please describe that most recent project

2. Describe your experience with scripting (Arcade, Python, etc) and/or workflow automation (such as Power Automate).
