Vitalant is hiring a Medical Laboratory Generalist OR Medical Laboratory Scientists to bring skilled technical support to our high complexity testing transfusion services laboratories. Regardless of your experience in this field, we have a position tailored to your skill level.

What to Expect

Schedule: This position will work in our lab located in the Washington/Wheeling hospital.

This position will work Nights --combination of 12 hour /8 hour shifts --40/hours per week. Will work e/o W/E.

Hours for permanent schedule will rotate: 10:45 PM-07:15 AM or 06:45 PM-07:15 AM

Training: 6 -8 weeks Days in Pittsburgh. 7:00 AM -3:30 PM

As a Medical Lab Generalist /Scientist, you'll get to:

• Perform high complexity testing in immunohematology, including antibody identification, antigen typing, absorptions, elution, and cross match.
• Review and report test results, participate in investigative studies, participate in quality control, preventative maintenance, and validations.

Requirements

Medical Laboratory Generalist

• Bachelor's degree in a "hard" science, (i.e chemistry, biology) with at least 30 credits in chemistry, biology, medical science, required.
• No experience needed.
• We will work with you to get BB ASCP certified in just over a year and move you into a MLS role!
• Starting pay is $21.63/hour plus applicable shift differentials
• College transcripts required.

Medical Laboratory Scientist I

• Must have Bachelor's degree in Medical Lab Science and/or have ASCP MLS /BB Certification. Will need to obtain certification within 6 months of hire.
• No experience needed.
• Starting pay is $32.17 /hour plus applicable shift differentials.
• College transcript required.

Medical Laboratory Scientist II

• Bachelor's degree in medical Lab Science required -(other degrees applicable if have ASCP MLS/BB certification).
• ASCP MLS /BB certification required.
• Two years of blood bank experience required.
• Salary $35.89-$37.00/hour plus applicable shift differentials.
• College transcripts required.
