Occupational Therapist 2-Per Diem Job Summary The Occupational Therapist 2 (OT 2) works as a journey-level therapist and is responsible for organizing, coordinating, and implementing Occupational Therapy services to patients as assigned by the Occupational Therapy Supervisor.
The OT 2 has experienced a variety of clinical settings and successfully demonstrated experience related to the ability to function with less direction. The OT 2 plans, evaluates and implements Occupational Therapy programs for patients with complex problems. They have demonstrated independent judgement related to documentation and patient related treatment issues. Incumbents are expected to act as resource persons and provide clinical direction to entry level Occupational Therapists. They assist in orientation of staff and are expected to participate in training programs.

- Must possess and maintain American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or on-site CPR certification through UC Davis Health
- Graduated from an accredited Occupational Therapy Program (Bachelor's degree or higher) in the U.S., or completed requirements for foreign-trained occupational therapists working in the U.S. Therapy
- Several years of clinical experience in the field of Occupational Therapy which includes knowledge and skills of Occupational Therapy theory and practices
- Experience working in an acute care and/or rehab setting
- Experienced in documentation via Electronic Medical Record
- Must supply all appropriate information to maintain Hospital credentialing promptly
- Complete working knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles, and techniques of patient care related to the area of expertise
- Ability to communicate ideas and relate well with staff and patients to work as a team member
- Willingness to assist other staff members with their caseloads
- Professional competency in occupational therapy evaluation techniques, such as range of motion testing, muscle testing, cognitive/ perceptual testing, activities of daily living evaluation, sensory testing, use of standardized testing of upper extremity function
- Professional competency in occupational therapy treatment modalities including activities of daily living and transfer training, strengthening, coordination, balance, range of motion, perceptual/cognitive skills training, wheelchair prescription, fabrication of splints and adapted devices
- Ability to establish and maintain good rapport with patients and their families
- Ability to train family in follow-through for home therapy programs; home visiting as necessary
- Ability to communicate clearly on a professional basis with physicians and work cooperatively with a variety of healthcare professionals
- Knowledge of requirements in processing for third-party payors
- Ability to write progress notes, discharge plans, and other written reports as requested
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate the scheduling of patients in assigned areas of responsibility
- Ability to organize time. Ability to be flexible and cooperative
- Ability to verbally communicate pertinent information and knowledge of the profession for training and educating other hospital service personnel
- Ability to organize training material
- Skill in organizing written material
- Knowledge of appropriate information required for patient and supply record-keeping
Preferred Qualifications - Degree in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate)
- Skills in written communication that allow for clear, concise, and well-organized conveyance of thought
- Ability to read, write and speak in English
Department Description The primary purpose of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation is to provide a full range of rehabilitation services designed to restore patients to their optimal functional capacity.

Physical Demands and Work Environment - Minimum eight (8) shifts per month. (Two (2) weekend shifts are required per 4-week scheduling period). Opportunity for more based on operational needs.
- Must be able to occasionally work weekends and holidays
- Ability to work occasional overtime
- Must possess the physical strength to assist with patient mobility
- Must see well enough to observe patient reactions and read relevant monitors, relevant device settings, and relevant written information such as the patient medical record
- Must hear and speak well enough to communicate with patients and staff throughout the day
Special Requirements - This position is a critical position and subject to a background check and drug screen. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of background investigation including criminal history, identity checks and drug screen.
