Position Title: Quality Improvement Specialist
Reports To: Quality Assurance and Risks Manager
Education: Associate degree required, bachelor's degree preferred
Work Experience: 2+ years of healthcare experience, including patient education, health navigation, medical assisting, or patient care assistance.
Salary Range: $20-25 per hour
FLSA Status: Exempt or Non-Exempt
Position Type: Full-Time
Language: Fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish, Arabic, Burmese, Chinese, or other languages is required.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a Quality Improvement Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of Quality Metrics data and reports through various tasks such as investigation, auditing, and identifying improvement opportunities. You will play a key part in the development and management of clinical quality programs, with a focus on Clinical Quality Improvement, PCMH compliance, and other relevant initiatives. This position requires adherence to state, federal, and regulatory standards, including those set by CMS, NCQA, and insurance payors. You will work closely with the HEDIS Coordinator to support the implementation of best practices and proven outcomes.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead process improvement initiatives to meet objectives set by the Quality Assurance and Risk Manager.
- Serve as a subject matter expert on technical specifications such as UDS, PCMH, and OSHA.
- Drive process improvement at provider sites to enhance clinical team performance on quality measures and adherence to guidelines.
- Complete regulatory reporting requirements related to PCMH Quality performance.
- Act as a clinical implementation expert for electronic medical records.
- Coordinate and oversee the VFC program, ensuring accurate ordering, inventory, documentation, and handling of resources.
- Collaborate with the Quality Improvement team to evaluate and audit clinical data for program integrity, including the 340B drug discount program, clinical chart audits, and UDS clinical quality data.
- Implement and maintain provider/department report cards based on quality data.
- Introduce new software related to quality improvement work with providers and staff, such as risk assessment tools and remote patient monitoring programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the CQI department.
- Attend community engagement activities, meetings, clinic events, and training as needed.
- Support the clinic's mission, vision, and values through your work.
Requirements:
Qualification Requirements:
- Minimum of 2 years in health education, patient navigation, or health clinic patient assistance preferred.
- Medical Assistant Certification required; LVN or RN preferred.
- Knowledgeable of and maintains HIPAA standards of privacy and confidentiality.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to utilize the Internet.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, complexity, and diversity of customers.
- Insurance and medical experience preferred.
- Collaborates well in a team environment to assist in change management and serves as an objective member of organizational leadership.
Education and/or Experience:
- Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred.
- 2+ years of healthcare experience, including patient education, health navigation, medical assisting, or patient care assistance.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Bilingual (Vietnamese, Chinese, Arabic, and/or Spanish with English) preferred.
- Strong language ability, public speaking, and writing skills.
- Excellent telephone etiquette.
- Reliable transportation and a valid Texas Driver's license required.
