Hospitality Employees Advancement and Training (HEAT), Inc. is a small non-profit organization providing training for quality jobs in South Florida’s vibrant and growing hospitality sector.
We are in Historic Overtown, Miami, and work closely with local community leaders, the Community Redevelopment Agency, UNITE HERE Local 355 and major hospitality employers.
HEAT is seeking an energetic, effective coordinator who is committed to helping people change their lives and achieve their economic goals. Many of our participants are people of color and/or immigrants from diverse communities.
The UNITE HERE Education and Support Fund, which exists to support workers in the hospitality industry, is assisting HEAT, Inc. with this posting.
Job Description
The Outreach and Recruitment Coordinator will be responsible for leading on the program’s recruitment by engaging union members and relevant community organizations and providers, educating them about HEAT’s training opportunities and educational benefits. Most of your time will be spent making and maintaining relationships with community organizations for mutual referrals, attending union events and going to union sites to engage members, and conducting initial intake with applicants for our programs. Since many job seekers and a significant number of HEAT’s union participants are speakers of languages other than English, someone who has taught adult ESOL classes, and/or has worked with immigrant communities, is preferred.
This role requires a dynamic individual with a high level of organization and drive, excellent presentation skills, ability to form and manage good relationships with community partners and individual applicants from diverse backgrounds and communities.
