ResponsibilitiesAs our NICU Nurse at CHI Saint Jospeh East , now part of CommonSpirit Health formed between Catholic Health Initiatives (CHI) and Dignity Health, you’ll focus on the safety of the newborn, with kindness and compassion while helping oversee front line nurses caring for our smallest patients.
Every interaction is an opportunity to improve your understanding of a patient's needs, the needs of your nursing team, or the needs of your unit. You'll advocate for your fellow nurses as you support them in reaching their full potential, which aligns with your department's operational goals and objectives.
To thrive in this role, you need to be accountable and confident. You're an excellent communicator in 1:1 interactions and in front of groups. It's also important for you to understand that w e have some wonderful days and get to be with people through huge milestones in their lives. We also have some hard days and are with people as they grieve. You must be sensitive and understanding to different circumstances. Above all else, you must remain calm in an emergency. A newborn's status can change quickly and it’s never good for the mother or family to see the nurse in a panic. You’re calm. You’re in control. You’re handling the situation.
