Reports To: Principal/Attendance Coordinator

Summary: Dayton Business Technology High School is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Attendance Clerk to join our administrative team. The Attendance Clerk will be responsible for accurately recording and monitoring student attendance, maintaining attendance records, and communicating with students, parents, and staff regarding attendance-related matters. This role is essential to ensuring student attendance compliance and supporting the overall function of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

Attendance Management:

  • Accurately record daily student attendance using the school’s attendance management system.
  • Monitor and report student absences, tardiness, and early departures.
  • Verify and process attendance records, including excused and unexcused absences.

Communication:

  • Communicate with students, parents, and guardians regarding attendance-related issues.
  • Notify parents/guardians of student absences and follow up as necessary.
  • Prepare and distribute attendance reports to staff and administration.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date attendance records and files.
  • Generate attendance reports for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Assist in the preparation of attendance data for state and district reporting.

Support Services:

  • Provide assistance to students, parents, and staff regarding attendance policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with teachers, counselors, and administrators to address attendance-related concerns.
  • Assist in the implementation of attendance improvement plans.

Administrative Duties:

  • Assist with front office tasks, including answering phones, greeting visitors, and other clerical duties as needed.
  • Support the administration in organizing and managing school events related to attendance and student engagement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or attendance coordinator.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in office administration is a plus.

· Previous experience in an office or administrative role, preferably in an educational setting.

· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and experience with attendance management systems.

· Strong organizational and time management skills.

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.

· Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in record-keeping.

· Friendly and professional demeanor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 1-3 years of clerical experience

Working Conditions:

· This position is based in a high school office environment.

· Regular working hours are with occasional overtime required for special events or projects.

· Travel to pick up items as needed for school.

· All other duties as assigned by the principal.

Pay rate: $17.00 per hr.
