Job Description

What You’ll do

• Provide direct health services to students and staff, including physical screening and nursing care to students, implementing first aid measures, and administering medications as needed.
• Communicate and collaborate with students, parents, and faculty to identify key health needs and implement interventions as needed
• Build relationships with faculty and staff to create a positive environment for students’ academic and social-emotional learning
• Promote a healthy school environment by reviewing health requirements and ensuring compliance in our health system.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of communicable diseases associated with CDC recommendations, school health laws and regulations, and standards of nursing practice
• Follow state and local guidelines for physical exams, immunizations and communicable disease reporting
• Contribute to the development of school health policies, health office organization, training for faculty and staff, and other areas as needed
• Collaborate with faculty around field trips, including reviewing health alerts and preparing medication and first aid bags
• Embrace continuing education in the field by attending workshops, conferences, and other training

Additional Information

If hired for this position, the annual salary range for this position is between $80,000-$115,000. The salary may vary depending on your professional experience and skills. About You

An Avenues New York School Nurse must bring all or most of the following 

• Registered Nurse- Licensed in NYS
• BSN degree with two years of relevant professional experience
• CPR certification
• Ability to build powerful rapport with students, families, and staff.
• Experience as a school, pediatric and/or public health nurse preferred
• Understanding of pediatric growth and development, allergies, reproductive and behavioral health
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, as well as an interest and ability to adjust to new technological platforms
