They are currently seeking a highly qualified Surgery Center Administrator for a prestigious surgical facility in Frisco, TX. RN Required. At this advanced site, surgeons are equipped to perform procedures in multiple specialties, including Colon and Rectal, Gastroenterology, General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Otolaryngology, Pain Management, Plastics, and Reconstruction, with 4 Operating Rooms and 2 Treatment Rooms available.
Job Summary
The role involves comprehensive leadership and management responsibilities, overseeing the facility's operations, processes, and staff. The primary objective is to deliver surgical services that not only meet but exceed customer expectations while optimizing clinical and financial outcomes.
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Manage and coordinate daily facility operations.
- Serve as the key liaison between the Governing Board, Medical Staff, and all departments.
- Regularly report facility activities to the Governing Board.
- Designate a responsible individual to oversee the facility in the Administrator's absence.
- Strategically plan and manage the facility's services and overall operation.
- Oversee the management of the Partnership as detailed in the relevant Partnership Agreement.
- Lead discussions during Monthly Operations Review calls with the central team.
Business Operations
- Implement, monitor, and ensure that operational processes align with the company’s quality improvement program.
- Ensure full compliance with internal controls, government regulations, and accrediting body standards.
- Strategically manage staffing, operations budget, and capital budget to optimize resources.
- Develop and control the purchasing plan within budget parameters, adhering to group purchasing initiatives.
- Negotiate and manage all external contracts, including those with physicians, ancillary services, plant maintenance, and purchasing agreements.
- Establish procedure pricing informed by cost analysis and local market standards.
- Promote positive interdepartmental relationships and serve as a liaison between the facility and the central team.
- Ensure compliance with detailed departmental policies and procedures.
- Closely monitor financial performance to proactively manage cash flow.
Personnel Administration
- Conduct monthly staff meetings to communicate facility goals and priorities.
- Manage staff in accordance with facility policies, ensuring equity and fairness.
- Oversee employee performance reviews, ensuring they are conducted annually.
- Approve disciplinary actions and oversee employee discharge processes.
- Evaluate management performance and other designated staff roles.
- Approve staffing adjustments and new hires for vacant positions.
- Conduct employee productivity analyses, adjusting staffing levels as needed to align with surgical case volume.
- Implement comprehensive job-based orientation, training, and ongoing evaluation programs.
- Manage employee files and records in compliance with regulations.
- Facilitate professional staff development opportunities.
- Encourage and implement positive customer relations among employees and physicians.
Clinical Services
- Ensure surgical programs and clinical services adhere to regulatory and accrediting body standards.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director and Medical Executive Committee to assess and develop surgical services.
- Manage clinical departments, including nursing, central supply, medical records, and housekeeping.
- Supervise contracted services, including laboratory, radiology, pharmaceuticals, laundry, and biomedical engineering.
- Monitor and ensure the functionality of surgical and patient care equipment, coordinating repairs as needed.
- Develop and execute a sales/marketing plan in line with the facility’s business objectives.
- Identify and develop new services appropriate for ambulatory surgery centers.
- Lead public relations, marketing, and planning initiatives to enhance the facility’s reputation.
Quality Improvement
- Develop and promote a robust continuous quality improvement program.
- Oversee the infection control program and ensure the medical staff actively reviews quality improvement efforts.
- Identify and address any quality care issues promptly.
- Utilize statistical indicators to evaluate and improve operations and quality of care.
- Serve as a member of the Quality Improvement Committee.
Medical Staff Relationships
- Oversee the credentialing process for facility practitioners.
- Collaborate with the Medical Director to review and update Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations.
- Facilitate positive relationships between employees and medical staff, addressing any concerns effectively.
- Implement a system to align physician and patient needs with the facility’s service offerings.
Administrative Representative
- Represent the facility at corporate administrative meetings, aligning with the organization’s vision and mission.
- Maintain active membership in professional associations relevant to healthcare administration.
- Stay informed about changes in healthcare laws, reimbursement, and business practices, ensuring compliance.
Personal Development and Professionalism
- Identify areas for further education or consultation to reinforce skills.
- Attend all mandatory in-services and meetings as required.
- Adhere to the facility’s professional conduct and dress code policies.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding patient, physician, and employee information.
- Communicate effectively and courteously with all stakeholders.
Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a Nurse Leader with substantial experience in Ambulatory Surgery Centers or leadership in Outpatient Surgery settings, particularly in Operating Room environments. They should have a strong background in managing surgical operations, compliance, staff leadership, and quality improvement initiatives. A Bachelor’s degree is required, with 2-5 years of relevant experience preferred.
