Job Description

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a System and Integration Engineer to support the Improved Turbine Engine (ITE) Software and Controls Integrated Product Team (IPT) within the Aviation Turbine Engine (ATE) Project Office. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Serves as a System and Integration Engineer for the Improved Turbine Engine (ITE) Software and Controls Integrated Product Team (IPT) within the ATE Project Office.
  • Act as a subject matter expert responsible for providing technical support for Engine Controls, Engine Diagnostics, Prognostic Systems, and Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM) Technologies within the ITEP Product Office.
  • Manage ITEP technical aspects in alignment with technical, cost, and schedule requirements, as well as PM ATE Technical Division best practices.
  • Support ITE Software Development following defined processes, including knowledge of DO-178 and DO-254.
  • Provide system engineering expertise in support of ITE Black Hawk and Apache engine controls, health management development, qualification, and integration efforts.
  • Engage in requirements development, traceability, verification activities, design reviews, and risk management.
  • Provide input into the development and documentation of ITEP technical and contract requirements.
  • Serve as the engineer responsible for providing technical support for Sustainment, Diagnostics, Prognostics, and CBM Technologies.
  • Support ITE CBM efforts, including the implementation and continuous update of the ITE CBM Roadmap and defining engine and aircraft-level system requirements.
  • Support the ITEP Supportability IPT to ensure the proper implementation and integration of the engine health management system.
  • Conduct and review system-level trade studies and analyses to support the development of requirements.
  • Collaborate with ITEP Product Office to assess program/project technical risks and develop risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide senior-level support to the Assistant Product Managers, Tech Chief, and ITEP Leadership.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (Software, Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace).
  • Minimum of five (5) years of System Engineering and Project/Program Management Leadership experience.
  • Experience in Software Development, Engine Controls, Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), Health and Usage Monitoring Systems (HUMS), Prognostic Health Management practices and applications, Power Monitoring, and Digital Source Collectors (DSC) technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience with the development, airworthiness qualification, integration, system-level qualification, reliability and maintainability, fielding, and sustainment of engines, engine subsystems, or LRUs for Army Aviation assets.
  • Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 25% of the time.
