Job Description

Join a forward-thinking team dedicated to transforming airport infrastructure. We are looking for a seasoned Design Manager III to lead the design management of a significant terminal redevelopment program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the future of airport design and functionality in one of the world's busiest airports.

As the Terminal Design Manager, you will report to the Terminal Delivery Director and oversee all design aspects of the terminal redevelopment at LAX. Your expertise in airport terminal functions and assets, such as passenger processing, baggage handling, airline operations, and aircraft/apron requirements, will be crucial. You will ensure the delivery of high-quality design solutions by collaborating with stakeholders, designers, and regulatory agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Leadership: Guide the design management process, ensuring all deliverables meet the highest quality standards and project requirements.
  • Technical Expertise: Oversee the review and approval of technical documents, provide technical support, and ensure compliance with architectural and engineering guidelines.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with the Terminal Delivery Director and Project Manager to define and approve design requirements. Coordinate with various stakeholders, including developers, designers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and monitor procedures for submittal approvals, audit project team comments, and oversee BIM productions to ensure design consistency and quality.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • 15+ years managing large, complex building projects, preferably within the aviation sector.
    • Proven track record with projects valued over $100 million.
    • Experience with various delivery methods including Design-Bid-Build, Design+CMAR, and Design/Build.
  • Skills:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
    • Familiar with Project Management Information Systems.
    • Experience with CAD or REVIT is a plus.
  • Attributes:
    • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and proactive.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to interface with diverse technical levels and educational backgrounds.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture, engineering, or a related field.
    • Professional licensure as an Architect and/or Engineer is strongly preferred.
