Expected salary range of $131,400 to $146,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k).

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Performs advanced regulatory/technical problem solving and provides analysis/insights in support of plant and fleet regulatory activities and emergent issue response. Possesses superior knowledge in functional discipline and its practical application and has excellent knowledge of applicable environmental rules, regulations and industry guidance. Serve as the program owner and administrator working with functional areas on assigned projects that directly affect the compliance status of the facility (e.g., Air Permits, NPDES permits, haz. waste and non-hazardous waste regulations, storage tanks, drinking water, SARA/EPRCA, ISO/EMS, OSHA chemical safety, hazmat). Provides QA/QC review and oversight for environmental team regulatory submissions. Supports env. CFAM or env. manger as requested, attends, presents and advocates for environmental programs and projects at leadership meetings. As a subject matter expert, leads industry trade groups and works with regulatory agencies to influence programs, projects and regulations. Develops relationships with key stakeholders and is recognized by peers and supervisors as an expert in his/her respective field. Trains, mentors and coaches' station and corporate environmental personnel, and develops and provides environmental training as appropriate. Negotiate with regulatory officials to obtain approvals, permits, certifications, and licenses relating to Environmental projects, pollution control systems, or waste management activities.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform advanced regulatory and technical tasks and provide insights in support of plant and fleet regulatory activities. Train and mentor station environmental personnel and other functional areas as appropriate. Provide regulatory support for all env. program areas as necessary.
  • React to and assist the station and fleet in responding to emergent environmental issues.
  • Perform independent and in-depth research, reviews, studies and analyses to develop, manage and implement fleet and station env. projects including development of scope, solicitation of proposals, proposal evaluation, soliciting funding, project timeline, budget and deliverables.
  • Provide industry leadership and interface directly with regulatory decision-makers and NGOs to influence and drive regulatory decisions and policies consistent with Exelon's goals.
  • Reviews, evaluates and interprets new and existing environmental regulations and legislation pertaining to station operations and activities. Updates procedures as appropriate, to reflect regulatory requirements. Develop strategy and initiate activities to comply with the new regulatory requirements including preparation of necessary budget requests
  • Provide strategic recommendation on technologies and techniques to improve performance, simplify operation, reduce costs, reduce regulatory burden, correct regulatory non-compliances, or comply with changes in codes or regulations.
  • Participate in ERO and duty rotations

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Env. Eng.; Chemical Eng.; Biology; Env. Science; Env Studies; or equivalent combined education and experience.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience managing multi-media env. programs and demonstrated expertise in critical env. area(s) routinely relied upon to achieve program objectives
  • In-depth knowledge of Federal and State Environmental statutes and regulations in a minimum of 5-primary program areas.
  • Experience presenting complex issues and advocating positions with regulatory agencies and Corporate Management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate degree or graduate work in engineering; hard sciences; Law or business is preferred.
  • Experience in the nuclear utility industry.
  • Professional certification or other recognition.
