Immediate need for a STAFF ACCOUNTANT



Ideal candidates will have a multi-faceted background that combines PAYROLL, ACCOUNTING, and ADMINISTRATIVE skills. The Staff Accountant will work closely with the Accounting Manager, A/P Manager, and Controller to maintain financial statement accuracy. This role will entail creating journal entries to record business transactions, processing payroll, review of daily sales reports, and reconciliation of banks, inventory, & other balance sheet accounts. The role may also involve reviewing income statement accounts, ad hoc analysis, and other duties to support the accounting & finance department.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform journal entries to record business transactions, including cash transfers, deposits, credit card fees, change orders, and other miscellaneous items.
• Prepare and review payroll reports to ensure employees are accurately paid.
• Maintains complete confidentiality of all payroll records and reports.
• Reconcile bank accounts and review any variances.
• Review and post weekly physical inventory counts posted by operating locations, communicating any variances to location leadership for review.
• Reconcile other balance sheet accounts, including A/R, prepaid insurance, prepaid taxes, banquet deposits, sales tax liability, notes payable, accrued payables, cash on hand, and other accounts at the direction of the accounting manager.
• Respond to payroll-related requests for information from employees and from outside entities.
• Enter all direct deposit information in HRIS system.
• Assist accounting manager with period close process, including a review of all outstanding invoices, ensuring all monthly recurring bills have been recorded, and all recurring journal entries are accurate, as well as a review of location income statements.
• Assist the accounting manager with ensuring all fixed asset purchases are properly recorded in the financial system.
• Assist the accounting & A/P managers with researching stale dated checks and open payables from closed periods.
• Assist the accounting manager and controller with providing information to the CPA as part of the company’s annual audit.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in payroll system processing required
• Payroll processing experience in restaurant industry preferred
• Experience with UKG software preferred
• High degree of attention to detail and confidentiality is mandatory

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four (4) year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management; and two or more years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
